Scientific Steering Committee

The strategic direction and scientific excellence of Sermilik Research Station are guided by a dedicated Scientific Steering Committee (SSC). Composed of leading experts from the University of Graz, the University of Copenhagen, ASIAQ, and Pinngortitaleriffik, the SSC plays a crucial role in:

  • Aligning research efforts with the national Greenlandic research agenda.
  • Defining research priorities: Ensuring that the station’s scientific endeavors address critical questions in Arctic environmental change and related fields.
  • Fostering interdisciplinary collaboration: Encouraging synergistic research projects that leverage the unique location and facilities of Sermilik Station.
  • Maintaining scientific standards: Overseeing the quality and ethical conduct of research undertaken at the station.
  • Promoting knowledge exchange: Facilitating the dissemination of research findings to the broader scientific community, policymakers, and local Greenlandic communities.
  • Long-term development: Providing strategic oversight for the station’s infrastructure development and operational sustainability.

The SSC meets regularly to review research proposals, discuss ongoing projects, and guide the station’s evolution as an essential hub for Arctic research.
