While Sermilik Station can technically operate year-round, we currently open the station to researchers primarily during the summer season, from June to September. You’ll generally find the best fieldwork conditions in July and August.

If your research specifically requires winter fieldwork, please contact us. We will assess the possibilities of accommodating your stay outside our regular operating season for justified cases. Be aware that Piteraq storms can become exceptionally strong during the winter months in Ammassalik, posing a serious safety threat.
